A niche just tells them what you do. A world makes them feel like they finally found their people.
BYBW is a six-month campaign for creative women who are done trying to shrink themselves into something that doesn't feel like them anymore, and ready to build a brand that is as ??expansive as they are.
Opening Instagram to figure out what to post, scrolling for twenty minutes looking at what everyone else is doing, closing the app without posting anything. Doing this on the daily.
Or you write something that actually sounds like you, maybe a little spicy, maybe a little deep. Then you reread it and start adjusting it for safety. You make it more “appropriate.” You take out the parts that felt like you And what you end up posting is fine, But it doesn’t feel very good.
There’s also the website you avoid looking at. The bio you keep meaning to fix. The ideas you don’t post because they don’t feel on-brand, even though they clearly are you. Ah well, add it to next month's to do list.
You see someone post something and think:
I had that idea. You didn’t post it because it felt “off-brand.” Their version gets hundreds of likes. Love that for them.
Hate that for you.
You've said yes to clients you knew weren't your people because at least they were clients. So You did the work and yeah sure it was fine...but fine is getting pretty exhausting, isn't it?
If I know you like I think I do, you've already tried...
✔ Rebranding., probably more than once, and I bet each time it felt like THIS is the thing that will fix everything... and a few months later you're back to the Canva templates.
✔ A new content strategy, (WHAT TO SAY HERE)... that felt exciting for a week and then became another thing to keep up with.
✔ Niching down. Picking the ONE thing. and committing to it, and then realizing, wait, that's not actually representative of all of me. How could it be?
✔ An ideal client workshop, a mood board, hours of comparison scrolling disguised as market research. Doing everything the marketing girlies told you to do. Still feeling like the brand belongs to someone else.
✔ Simply crossing your fingers and waiting for inspiration to arrive. It hasn't.
Because you're not performing anymore. You're just talking about something you actually care about.
Because you stop discounting. You stop bargaining. You can finally stand behind what you're selling.
Because the brand sounds like someone is home. The right people find you and immediately go oh, her.
The work is genuinely good and your clients are happy. There is soomething about your brand is less interesting than you are though?? and you can't put your finger on why you can't convey yourself the way you want to. People find you, yes but they just don't entirely get you.
It's not that you're not indecisive. You're the kind of person who is just always learning, always growing. Every time you think you've landed somewhere it shifts again because you're not someone who stays the same for long. The problem isn't that you keep changing. It's that nobody's ever shown you how to build a brand that can actually grow with you.
You have things to say. Probably the kind that would make someone screenshot and send to a friend. But you don't feel like you have the right to say them yet. Like you need to figure out who you are first before you can show up like you mean it. The brand has to be right before the content can be right. So you wait. And post the safe version in the meantime.
Build Your Brand World
Before we build anything, we figure out what you're bringing into this campaign and what you're leaving behind. .... You meet your party. We set out on the trail.
Session Zero
You fill out your actual character sheet. Stats, strengths, backstory, the skills you've been sleeping on, the weird specific things that make you completely unique and best fit to serve the people you want to work with. Most people have never had this conversation about themselves out loud and yeah it might be a little uncomfortable, but things start to open up here too.
Session one
Your expertise is your experience. All of it: the pivots, the weird jobs, the thing you did before this, the reason you actually started. None of it was random. This is where you trace the thread and find out why it all belongs in the same world. Because if you're not building from all of it, you're leaving the most interesting parts of yourself out of the brand.
Session two
Turns out you've had powers this whole time, but just didn't know they counted. This is where we name the things you do that feel obvious to you and extraordinary to everyone else. It's in the way you think, the way you work, the specific magic you bring that nobody else can replicate. It's your zone of genius. Your methodology. The stuff you've been giving away for free or burying in a bullet point because you didn't realize how damn cool it was.
Session three
This is where it all becomes a place. You take everything you've built so far and you map the world it lives in. The atmosphere, the feeling, the rules of your realm. What it looks and sounds and feels like when someone walks into your brand. This is where the messaging writes itself because you're not describing what you do anymore. You're describing the world you built and inviting people to live in it.
Session four
The campaign is almost over but the real work is actually just beginning. This is where everything you've built becomes a plan you can actually follow because it came from your world, not some pdf framework someone handed you. Your next moves, your offers, your content direction. You know who you are. now You know your world. The Quest Log is where you write it all down for use everyday.
Session five
Building a world is not a linear process, trust me. There will defintely be a point where everything is kind of connecting but none of it makes sense yet for your brand. These two calls, which I am naming Long Rests, exist for that moment. You get to catch your breath, catch up around the fire with your party, and I will reflect back what I see. You always come in mid-process and leave with your next step.
DURING BYBW
Time to play. You've built the world, now you get to live in it. You post something and it sounds like you for the first time in years. You pitch someone and don't stumble over your words. You get a DM that says I feel like you wrote this just for me. You raise your prices and don't panic. You open your laptop and actually know what you're working on today. This is what it's supposed to feel like.
Session SIX
"Katelyn helped me get clear on what truly matters in my business. As a creative, it's easy to get swept up in ideas and inspiration, which can sometimes leave me feeling scattered. She helped me understand the power of structure."
"Katelyn helped me work through my mindset in a thoughtful way, cheered me on as I took the next step, and guided me through how to talk about my new positioning in my marketing. I booked at the highest price I'd ever charged."
"There would be times when I felt overwhelmed or I wished I was at the same stage as the other women in our group. Katelyn would virtually hold my hand and remind me to give myself some grace and be patient with the process. She reminded me to celebrate my successes. Katelyn is such a passionate creative but an even more compassionate coach. I highly recommend learning from someone who truly cares about your journey."
I went from being deeply dissatisfied at a desk job, to using my creativity to build my dream life. Working with Katelyn allowed me to deeply rethink my relationship with money and rethink how I've been investing my time and energy. Katelyn teaches from experience and is one of the most genuine humans you'll meet.
– Gen, mentee (now full-time photographer)
I was so busy trying to find the right category that would give me expert status that I forgot I'd already built all that I needed for that. I looked back at my photography business and saw it so very clearly, it wasn't a brand. It was my world. Couples didn't hire me for my gear or my packages. They hired me because they wanted to live inside what I had built. I was worldbuilding the entire time. I just didn't have a name for it.
You can't replicate a world by just choosing a niche that sounds good. A world is yours and only yours. Now you just have to go create it. That's what I'm here to help you do.
I started my photography business in 2014, and I really loved it. For years, the people, the stories, the making something beautiful out of someone's most important day really lit me up. I made six figures year after year, got published in big magazines, had some really incredible experiences, but also eventually...really burnt out.
The business kept going and so did I but one dayI just stopped loving it the way I used to. So I did what you do to feel something again, I pivoted to a new and exciting thing. I became a photography business coach. Then I tried human design and astrology readings, and coaching on money too! (narrator voice: spoiler, that didn't last). I feel like I flung myself in every direction except back toward the thing I'd always actually loved, which was people's stories. Who they were. What they were trying to say.
In BYBW, we focus on writing, thinking, side questing, letting things integrate because building takes time! Creativity needs room. So does identity-level change. Everything here is designed to grow your trust in yourself.
This is the first live run of the Build Your Brand World! Founding members get the lowest pricing and....
Not even a little. You don't need to have played, watched, or even know what a d20 is. The framework borrows the structure — character creation, world building, the quest — because it works. Don't worry, you'll get it!
Every session is recorded. Replays are yours. Circle keeps you connected and Kate reviews work async between sessions.
Any creative business. Photographers, coaches, designers, writers, artists, makers. If your brand doesn't feel cohesive or magnetic, this is for you. If you've been in business a while and something has shifted — you have, your clients have, your life has — and the brand hasn't caught up yet, this is especially for you
Yes. Most adventurers in this cohort already have an established business. We're not building from zero — we're taking what you already have and building the world around it. The brand you built when you started is not the brand you need now.
One to two 90-minute live sessions per month plus one to two hours of work between sessions. If you show up and do the prompts, you leave with a complete brand world.
If your brand doesn't feel like you, you're ready. If you're tired of starting over, you're ready. If you read this page and felt something, well that's your answer.
